Why don't men wear shawls?

Had a lively discussion at Derby Branch of KCG today - the shubject was scarves, shawls, shrugs - their shapes and consh-truction (shorry!). I asked the question - why don't men wear shawls? One theory was that men don't get cold in the same areas of their bodies! What do you think?

  1. I think they just call them scarves! I read Gerard's article in Yarn Forward 15 and remember watching people reacting to him wearing a shawl at Wonderwool a couple of years ago.

  2. Actually, I think you may be on to something about our bodies loosing heat differently. Wearing something warm over my shoulders like that, makes me hot and bothered. I'd rather drape myself around my tummy and lower back. And I do, when snuggled up infront of the tv in winter time.
